A groin strain rehabilitation program is for stabilizing initial pain and swelling. Improve muscle flexibility and strengthening. Groin strains are graded one to three. A groin strain is graded one to three, and is either a partial or complete tear. Treatment for a pulled groin muscle Grade 1 recovery time may be one to four weeks. Grade 2 recovery time may take three to eight weeks. Grade 3 recovery time may take eight to 12 weeks or longer, usually after surgery. The conventional RICE (rest, ice, compression, elevation) treatment is constant throughout physiotherapy rehabilitation. Elevation and icing is crucial to help circulation and reduce swelling, then attempt range-of-motion (ROM) exercises. Muscle flexibility and ROM exercises should be done without pain. Ice the groin injury 20 minutes, every two hours, up to three days. Wearing compression support or a groin wrap helps reduce swelling. Improving flexibility and muscle condition with stretching exercises may be done, without pain. Stretching is done regularly at least thrice daily. Muscle strengthening rehabilitation is important for muscle self-healing. Attempt gentle strengthening exercises five days after injury for a mild strain, at least three times weekly. Intensifying gradually helps muscle flexibility and regain ROM. Returning to regular physical activity is contingent on uninterrupted activity for 30 minutes without pain. A jogging session at 50% effort on day one. Day two, gentle jog. Day three, 70% effort when sprinting and so on. Gentle stretching exercises can be done without pain from day three of injury. Stretching should be done regularly – at least three times daily in the initial physiotherapy rehabilitation. Sports massage techniques are useful after the initial injury stage.
